History

The Windsor Association of the Deaf (WAD) is a non-profit organization that relies on volunteers to provide programs and events, resources to the community-at-large and to advocate Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing of all ages. WAD provides mental and emotion support, resources, and recreational activities for the deaf in Windsor-Essex surroundings.

Did you know that...?

WAD was first founded as Windsor Association of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children back in 1959, later changed its name to Windsor Association for the Hearing Handicapped (WAHH) in 1974 and again changed its name to Windsor Association of the Deaf (WAD) in 1992 and held meetings and social events in the building at 1082 Wyandotte Street. Today, without the building, W.A.D. is well-known through social and recreational events for all ages.
